More than this…
If who you are is defined by what
you have, then what happens when you lose what you have?
Who you are is not what you have
and what you have is not who you are. You are not defined by what you have nor by
what you don’t have, what class/strata you belong or don’t belong to.
There is an imminent danger in
misplacing the focus of your personality and the source of your self esteem,
and this is the sole cause of disillusionment. Tying your self worth to
externals such as job, features, physique, status, affiliations, investments,
property, certificate, name it…..
When your life and who you are is defined by
your pretty face and shape, what then happens as you age and loose all the
things that you thought was you?
I think this solves the puzzle of
the Marilyn Munroe, of this world, who seemed to have it all together but yet
so empty on the inside. In the end we wonder why people who have so much going
for them will recourse to suicide. Well there is far more to life and success
than meets the eyes.
Recall the Story I shared in my
last post about Joni? Well, that was the mistake that Joni made at the start,
which made her give up on live and become suicidal. She thought and tied the
idea of Joni to her physical abilities, her land and limbs…. And since these
were no more, then she should also cease to be.
But today she knows better.
Somewhere along the line through patient love and care, the truth dawned on
her. And she found the courage to go on with life and go for her dreams in
spite of what she might have lost through the accident. Her achievements today
supersede that of many able bodied people put together.
How can a woman without hands
author so many books, give so much and achieve so much? Because she realized
who she is. It takes more than physical limbs to author a book; it takes more
than mere physical feet to travel to world. You don’t need a pretty face or
great build and body shape to impact your world. No, those are not part of the
equation. It takes realizing who the real you is and letting it out.
You owe it to yourself, to meet
and realize YOU before your time here is up. And you owe it to the world to
bless them with that unique essence that can be only you.
In the words of Marianne
Williamson: As we let our own light shine, we give others the courage to do the
same…
There is far more to you than
meet the eyes!
