Joni; A Girl Just Like You

Joni A Girl Just Like You.
Ok. I get it you are not a girl. Well Joni was like you too in that she shared all the exuberances and ambitions of youth. Young virile, agile and ambitious, Joni had a great future laid ahead of her. Until….

On a warm summer day, she went to take a swim in a lake nearby and that did it. Joni woke up in the hospital unable to move her limbs, all four.
Joni had dived in the shallow part of the lake and hit her head on a rock real hard she broke her spinal cord. One bone higher and she’d be dead, one bone lower and she’d had been paralyzed from her waist down, but she broke the bone that left her paralyzed from neck down. The reality was hard to take. Joni preferred death living as a mere head and a mass of useless body.
Fast track into the future. Today, Joni is still alive. But not like you’d think. No she needs no pity no more, and she’s not living a dependent life and no, she is not broke.
Today, Joni has authored over 50 books with over 10 as bestsellers, translated into over 15 international languages. Her paintings sell in the range of millions, she has served as advisor to a past American secretary of state [Dr. Condoleezza Rice], she has personally visited over 40 countries on speaking tours, she has over 50 awards, honorary degrees and accolades to her name and she is happily married. She is CEO of a large organization she owns, and is a presenter with over a million listeners to her program and has conducted charity aids to many third world countries. Talk of an achiever, Joni is it!
Oh no she didn’t get a miraculous healing. Well, she is still on a wheel chair without use of her limbs. But she got a miracle that liberated her mind on the day she realized that Joni is not her body. Joni is someone housed in the body and although she had lost use of most of her body she still had the most important part of the equation - HER LIFE.
And she achieved as much as she could have had she had full use of her limb.
She realized a great truth. It was the same truth that a patriarch understood centuries ago when he went through trying times, and those words are powerful enough to cause the same drastic change in your life if you grab the truth. There is a spirit in man……
That spirit is the man, not the physique not the body, not anything seen.
The next time you stand before a mirror ask where am i? and who really am i? just be sure that the real you is not what you see. What you see is just a casing, a carriage, limited and…… . the real you is unlimited, the source of inspiration and greatness, of ideas that will change the world. Give more attention to the real you, and you will make Joni’s achievement like child’s play. Dare, to be you.
