Dear Sister Don’t Stoop So Cheap!

Rihanna and former TLC mates

Muhammad Ali’s daughters arrived at his home wearing clothes that were quite revealing and provoking. Here is the story as told by one of his daughters:

“When we finally arrived, the chauffeur escorted my younger sister, Laila, and me up to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. We exchanged many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day.

My father took a good look at us. Then he sat me down on his lap and said something that I will never forget.

He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You’ve got to work hard to get to them."

“How do men recognize virtuous women? They are precious in the eyes of the lord and men because of their worthy decorum. If you want to attract a good man to yourself, cover yourself up. Let him work so hard to see it. He will respect , value and admire you so much. Do not allow any man who did not pay your bride price to see your body. It makes a woman so cheap"

"I could not help it but shed tears and embraced him. I was touched. Father was absolutely right. My life changed from that moment"

So before you make Beyonce or Rihanna - two women who are bent on taking us back to the stone age by making nudity sexy - or before you bite the lie and become the next Tiwa Savage, think again. Virtue is still an option, yet appealing and sexy as sexy gets. It is rather lame to justify nudity in the name of some American singer doing it. That is so not good enough! You’ve got to stand for what is right. Embrace virtue, dear sister; your daughters will celebrate you for upholding the dignity of womanhood and not being so cheap.
